An important aspect of recruitment and spreading the word about BOG Constructions, is our attendance at career fairs. Students and companies get to meet face-to-face and “size each other up.” BOG’s close relationship with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO) gives our firm the chance to meet some of the top engineering students in the country.
We’ve been out and about for the past two months meeting with civil engineering and architectural engineering (ARCE) students at Cal Poly SLO. This year’s winter Environmental and Civil Engineering Career Fair was held on January 26. BOG also attended the Structural Forum on February 3, also held at the university.
Our Principal Ben Pitts, and Design Engineer James Donahue shook hands and met with students from their alma mater concentrating on speaking with CE students.
James noted, “I had a great time talking with students about their interests and experiences and how they would fit in to the BOG culture.”
Principal Larry Kaprielian was accompanied by BOG Design Engineer Emily Jahansouz, and Project Engineer Travis Culp to answer questions about the firm at the Structural Forum. We’re pleased that the BOG booth attracted more students than in years past.
“We’ve been attending the Structural Forum for over twenty years and have met some incredibly talented students over the years, including this year,” stated Larry.
Following the two fairs, the annual Career Fair and Awards Dinner sponsored by SEAOSC was held February 7 in Los Angeles. Principal Dave Nelson, Emily and Project Engineer Han Kim attended and met both professional engineers and aspiring students.
Emily commented as well, “I attended both the Structural Forum and the SEAOSC fairs for the first time. Both events were incredible experiences! I met so many talented and accomplished students. It’s exciting to see their potential as future engineers.”
All of these events are a critical part of fueling our firm with talent who can grow and work on complex structural solutions for our clients.
